I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jesse Rodriguez. I was born in Tijuana, Mexico and raised in Reedley, California where I grew up working in the fields with my family. I come from a large family of twelve (6 boys, 6 girls). My parents had a first and third grade education and instilled in us their expectations of working hard and putting academics first.
Over the past 23 years in education, I have taught grades 3-6. I taught seven years in my hometown of Reedley in the Kings Canyon Unified School District (5/6 combo-1yr., 5th grade-6 yrs.), three years in the Clovis Unified School District (5th grade), and eleven years in the Yuba City Unified School District (4th grade-7 yrs., 3rd grade-4 yrs.). The past two years I served the community of Colusa as Principal of Burchfield Primary School (TK-3).
I have been married to my lovely wife Kelly for twenty-one years. We have three beautiful children. Natasha will be beginning her junior year in college at SAGU (Southwestern Assembly of God University) in Texas where she is majoring in Intercultural Studies with an Associates in Human Services, Nathanael just graduated from Sutter Union High School and will begin his freshman year in college at Butte Community College in Oroville, and Isabella will be beginning her junior year at Sutter Union High School with swim practice beginning this week. Our dog Brody is a nine year old American Bulldog that enjoys staring at you while you're eating, cooking, or even just searching the cupboards for a snack as drool hangs from the right side of his lip in hopes of an extra treat.
I look forward to meeting each of you in the coming days. Please feel free to stop by my office and say hi if you are on campus. I have already had the privilege of meeting a few of you and am excited about partnering with the Wilson staff as we work alongside each other to serve our students, parents, and community.
